Got the Bases Covered?

As this is the very first post I send out into the blogging world, I thought I'd better cover my bases. So this post will be all about - you guessed it - foundation.
Let's start off with some skin info: my skin tone is light (during winter) to fair (during summer) and normal to combination. I have a history with skin care medication. During my first year at Uni, my skin started to act up to the point I got really insecure. So after a visit to the dermatologist I started taking Isotretinoïne EG (20 mg), which cleared up my skin in about 6 months. Long story short, my skin is much better behaved and I don't really suffer from blemishes anymore - cross your fingers. Now, on to the bases!

In high school I loved a full coverage like Clinique Even Better Makeup SPF 15. After taking medication for my acne, I wanted something that would not interfere with the changes my skin was going through. After some research online - with research I mean looking through Lisa Eldridge's posts - I ended up buying Mac's Face and Body Foundation in N2, mainly because it is water based. I seriously LOVE this foundation. It's been almost two years and although I try out different foundations, I always go back to this one. It matches my skin perfectly both during summer and winter (which is rare) and my first bottle is still going strong. Which brings me to another thing I love about this foundation, the price/quantity pair: it comes at €33 (£26.50) for 120 ml. When that first bottle runs out, I'll grab my purse and go buy a new one instantly.
On to the next one. While I use my Mac Face and Body for both day and night, sometimes a girl needs a bit more coverage. I use the well-known and well-loved Make Up For Ever HD Foundation. I am shade 120. The reason I love this is because it gives you medium to full coverage without looking or feeling like make up. It's a bit more on the pricier side at €35 (£29) for 30 ml. Would I buy this again? Probably not. I am definitely in the market for a new full coverage foundation.

Speaking of full coverage, this next one is buildable to full. It is the Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Gel Foundation. I bought this after Estée from Essie-button mentioned it in one of her videos. I am shade 52 Vanilla, which is a perfect match for my skin tone. This deserves all the credit it gets online. It is my favorite, next to Mac Face and Body of course. It glides on like a dream and it doubles up as an under-eye concealer for me as well. The packaging also makes it easy to travel with. I'll definitely be bringing this along when I go to Scotland in July. Pricing is also good at €13 (£10.99) for 30 ml. This one gets a lot of love from me and I'll definitely repurchase it in the future.
Now for the last one of the bunch. Like most of us, I too have been searching for the perfect BB cream. I've tried a lot of the drug store ones, but none of them are to my liking. So I settled for the (so far) best option, the L'Oréal Nude Magique BB Cream. This one is white with beads that adjust to your skin tone. I do like it, but more so for summer as it tends to look quite orange even though I have the lightest shade. Pricing is OK at €12 (£9.99) for 30 ml. I'm still looking for the perfect BB cream, because I do like the idea. So on with the search... Here are some swatches of the foundations I mentioned:

That's all for my current foundation choices. My mission of the month is to find a good BB type cream for summer. After reading reviews of the Clinique Moisture Surge CC Cream and the Dior Nude BB Cream, I am definitely heading to the shop to get some samples and splurge on a good summer base. Try and stop me!
