Doing My Best Friend's Makeup

As far as best friends go, I couldn't have wished for a better one. Countless times she listens to me nag on about beauty-related things, while she is in fact not that into it. We even spent a great deal of a sunny New York afternoon inside Sephora. Today my best friend is going to her sister-in-law's wedding, which means I got carte blanche on doing her makeup.

Needless to say, less is more for her. Still, pictures will be taken almost continuously that day. So I opted for Make Up For Ever HD Foundation as a base, buffed in with a Real Techniques Stippling Brush. As I said in my foundations post, this one provides medium to full coverage without looking like you put on a mask. No need for blusher or highlighter, but I did use L'OrĂ©al's Glam Bronze Duo Powder to warm up her face just a tad.

Since her dress is a bright red, I wanted to keep the eyes classy and matte - think Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast At Tiffany's minus the winged liner. I primed the eyes with Urban Decay's Primer Potion and put a tiny bit of the YSL Touche Eclat all over the lid to provide some subtle shimmer. On with a wash of W.O.S. from the Naked Basics Palette and Naked 2 into the crease with a Real Techniques Shading and Deluxe Crease brush. Next a bit of the Maybelline Master Drama Kohl pencil in Dark Brown smudged under the eyes for some definition. To finish the eyes I used the Clinique High Definition Lashes in Black.

And there we have it, a classy and natural makeup look for my best friend. All steps were carefully written down so she can recreate the look today. I'll end this post with a quote from One Tree Hill's Brooke: "This is my best friend in the whole wide world. Don't you think she pretty?". She is. <3
