The Review: Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation

This foundation comes at £6.99 for 30ml; a bit cheaper than other known high street foundations. It has a glass bottle with a blue plastic cap, which gives it a luxurious look, while still being very portable. The pump allows 'semi-pumps', aka you take just the right amount of product.
The shade selection for very fair to medium skin tones is good, with yellow and pink undertones represented. But deeper skin tones will find it hard, if not impossible, to find a color that matches their skin, which is a shame. I am as fair as fair girls come, and I am shade 100 Ivory, for reference.
It claims to 'last all day', give 'perfectly flawless skin under any light' and an 'illuminating glow'. I would say that it does last all day on me and gives my skin a flawless finish without feeling mask-like. It also blends into the skin perfectly. I don't know about the illuminating glow though. To me, the foundation itself does not provide a glow, it rather allows your skin to show its natural glow.
Since I don't suffer from any severe skin problems and have minor discoloration and hyper pigmentation, I don't use this foundation as a full coverage one, which it probably could be when built up. However, I still find that it is very versatile. I mainly use it in three different ways:
  • All over blended in with a buffing brush for a more flawless coverage.
  • All over blended in using my hands for a flawless, but more natural coverage.
  • On the center of my face and blended with a buffing brush to provide coverage where I need it. It matches my skin perfectly so it is possible to only use it in select places.
Verdict: yay or nay?
A definite yay. I've only had this for a couple of months, but it has already entered my top three foundations ever. It did not break me out, even though it has a definite scent. The color matches me perfectly, which can sometimes be a challenge with high street foundations. All in all this is a pretty brilliant every day foundation with medium coverage that still feels light-weight. If you want light coverage, however, this will not be one for you.
